Be like Sagan in 2018 – ride Wahoo

Among some other slightly more ‘high profile’ stories in the cycling world this last few

weeks *cough* Team Sky *cough*, you’d be forgiven for missing the announcement that

Bora-Hansgrohe Pro Cycling Team has officially partnered with Wahoo Fitness for 2018.

We’re a big fan of Wahoo’s tech, which is why we stock it in our stores, so we weren’t

surprised to see that Bora – the team of World Champion Peter Sagan – has chosen to

ride all their WorldTour races next season with Elemnt Bolt GPS computers and Tickr heart

rate monitors.

Sagan isn’t the only rider who’ll be using Wahoo next season, though. Familiar faces on

Bora include Sam Bennett the Irish sprinter and are former Polish national champ and Tour

de France polka dot jersey-winner, Rafal Majka. New signings for the 2018 squad also

include Peter Kennaugh, Daniel Oss and Davide Formolo.

The two key elements of Wahoo’s product range that will become an integral part of the

team’s race-winning strategies are the Elemnt Bolt – the simplest to use and most

aerodynamic bike computer on the market – and the TICKR Heart Rate Monitor, for

measuring critical race-winning efforts.

With over 30 wins in 2017, including six national and world championship jersey victories,

the squad will be looking to add to its successes in 2018.

Ralph Denk, team boss of Bora, had this to say on the Wahoo tech:

“We entered this partnership because the Wahoo BOLT persuaded us with its technical

features. It works perfectly for us in both training rides and races because it syncs easily

with our training platform Web4Trainer. Besides that, the outstanding usability makes the

handling really easy for our riders.”

The three-time world champ himself had this to add:

“I think the Wahoo bike computers stand out not only for the technology, performance, and

features they offer but also for their cool design and user-friendliness. They are easy to

use and can be fully-customised, and for me, this is very important.”

Not just for WorldTour pros

Of course, heart rate monitors and a good GPS unit are not just the preserves of elite

racers. If you’re planning to take your training more seriously in 2018, then a HRM is a fine

first step towards more structured training. Training with HR is probably the easiest way to

start doing proper ‘sessions’ instead of just riding until you throw up, and is far less costly

than investing in a pricy power meter.

The Wahoo Elemnt has been widely praised for its incredible route-mapping capabilities,

as well as being easy to use. As such, we’d recommend it as the best unit on the market

for riders of every type; whether you’re a touring cyclist that wants to make following routes

more easy, or a racer who demands data readouts at the touch of a screen.

Visit our site to take a look at the full range of Wahoo Fitness technology we stock. You’ll

find everything mentioned in this post, plus a whole lot more.

Make 2018 your year and ride like Sagan!
