This Stumpjumper features slightly steeper angles and less suspension (130mm front/120mm rear) due to its 'ST' distinction, providing you with nimble and responsive climbing ability and incredible descending skills.Our aim when designing the new Stumpjumper was simple - to create the ultimate trail bike that feels like it can read your mind. We discovered that this feeling is all about stiffness. When the frame is communicating conflicting messages to your hands and feet, your brain becomes confused and the bike feels unstable. To solve this problem, we focused on enhancing the materials, shapes, and layout.We started by developing our own stiffness test specifically for mountain bikes. Using Finite Element Analysis (FEA), we analyzed the layout to identify areas where we could make significant improvements in stiffness. This led to a groundbreaking discovery - the Large and X-Large frames required more front-end stiffness while the Smalls and Mediums were already satisfactory. As a result, we designed a frame that is 20% more efficient. The end product is one of the lightest trail frames available today.To achieve our stiffness goals, we adopted a revolutionary sidearm design for the frame. By connecting the front-end and rear-end at three points, the sidearm ensures that all these points remain incredibly stiff and connected. Additionally, this design helps reduce frame flex when the rear suspension is active, resulting in a more responsive ride.We also focused on optimizing the suspension performance. We used a custom Rx Trail Tune on both the fork and rear shock. Suspension characteristics depend greatly on the frame, wheel, and rider size, so we developed an Rx Tune that allows each bike to land in the middle of the adjustment spectrum. This provides you with the widest range to fine-tune your ride. We also created a specific Rx Tune for each wheel size to ensure perfectly linear suspension, no matter your preference.We made sure this bike is user-friendly as well. The return of threaded bottom brackets allows for easy maintenance, and the frame can accommodate up to a 3.0'' tyre. You have the freedom to use any aftermarket rear shock you like since we utilize standard metric shocks. We have also improved the SWAT box, making it sleeker, lighter, and with more storage volume. You can further customize your Stumpy with the Flip Chip, which allows you to adjust the bottom bracket and head tube angles to match your riding style. Changing from High to Low position drops the bottom bracket by 6mm and slackens the head tube by half-a-degree.We have also paid attention to the small details that make a big difference in your riding experience. For example, we have designed a ribbed chainstay protector that eliminates chain slap and greatly reduces drivetrain noise. Cable routing is a breeze on the carbon models, as full tubes are present throughout the frame, allowing you to simply push the cable through.The Comp model of this bike comes equipped with high-quality components, including a Shimano XT/SLX drivetrain with RaceFace cranks, Shimano SLX disc brakes, a FOX FLOAT Rhythm 34 fork with 130mm of travel, a FOX FLOAT DPS rear shock with 120mm of travel, and Roval Traverse 29 wheels.
